BEAT THE BLOAT THIS PARTY SEASON

It’s LBD time and before you start your dress hunt, here's three smoothies designed by Protein World nutritionist Omar, to help you stay bloat free this party season.

Green Tea, Blueberry and Banana Smoothie

1 cup of green tea made with PW Slender tea (or any other green tea)
4 scoops vanilla Slender Blend
1 tsp honey
1 cup frozen blueberries
½ med banana
1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Method

Pour boiling water into a mug, with your Slender Tea bag.
Leave to stew for 3-5 minutes then remove the teabag from the mug and leave to cool.
Add all ingredients to a blender including the green tea and process until smooth.

Benefit

This really is the perfect smoothie to rid your stomach of bloating and get you ready for that Christmas party dress! All three of the main ingredients used in this high fibre smoothie are anti-bloaters and will help flush out the system in their own way. However, the green tea within the Slender Tea really is the stand-out ingredient here.
Green tea is a natural diuretic, meaning it increases fluid loss mainly through urination. This helps to reduce water retention which is one of the main culprits of bloating. Another common cause of bloating is the build-up of gas in the intestinal tract. Research suggests that green tea reduces this build-up of gas and also augments the digestive process.
As well as being an anti-bloater, green tea is also high in antioxidants such as polyphenols, flavonoids and catechins, which have been shown to protect against risk of cancer. The science also shows that green tea has a positive boost on fat metabolism. This means that consuming green tea can help you to burn more fat!
